Painting for Allen is as much about an attitude as his technique - keeping a creative, relaxed feeling transfers to his finished work whether it be a colorful still life or his impression of a variety of subjects. "Working as a scenic artist and set painter for the movie studios in Hollywood for over 25 years was quite a challenge. The amount of talent available to them was only limited by their budget. To keep my job meant satisfying art directors, set designers, or producers. Often their visions were rather different than my own preferred approach. By adapting to a variety of styles and techniques I learned to create the desired affect for the camera or an atmosphere for the actors.
